Middle School BYOT - A Family Guide
Middle School is a time for students to establish their identity. This includes exploring new interests, developing their talents, and embracing new challenges.

BYOT: Are you ready to learn? |
By having students bring their own technology in the middle school we are able to balance sound pedagogical practice and teach responsible use. Students use their devices to create and collaborate on applied project work, and receive adaptive, personalized guidance, in an environment that supports inquiry and communication while building social responsibility and digital literacy.

Do you have the right technology for middle school?
All middle school students are expected to bring technology that meets the BYOT minimum requirements. Here are the minimum requirements that each middle school student should have access to in each class:
You may bring more than one device to meet these requirements. |
My Technology, My Learning, My Style
At the centre of the BYOT philosophy is the understanding that learning is personal. Choosing the right devices for middle school is a personal decision. It asks you to consider your learning styles, study habits, skills and preferences.

Responsible Digital Citizens
What does it mean to be a responsible member of our digital community?
Our Digital Citizenship Agreement is grounded in our Middle School Core Values and outlines expectations for student behavior related to digital devices and the internet. |
Our lessons on digital citizenship are closely interwoven into advisory and the courses students take. Using Common Sense Media's Digital Citizenship program as a foundation, Middle School students learn and experience what it means to be a respectful and responsible digital citizen.
